Hotspot Hero isn’t keeping my hotspot alive — what should I check?

Make sure Personal Hotspot is turned on in iOS Settings, then open Hotspot Hero and tap Start so the green status badge reads Active. Grant the app Location: Always permission — this is what allows iOS to keep the radio awake — and disable Low Power Mode while tethering.

  1. Make sure Personal Hotspot is turned on in iOS Settings → Personal Hotspot.
  2. Inside Hotspot Hero, tap Start — the green status badge should read Active.
  3. Grant the app Location: Always permission. The location permission is what allows iOS to keep the radio awake; it is never shared off-device.
  4. Disable Low Power Mode while tethering for the most stable experience.

Does Hotspot Hero use my battery?

It uses iOS background location updates that are very lightweight — typical impact is comparable to a navigation app idling in the background.

If you notice unexpected battery drain, please email us with the iOS battery breakdown screenshot.

Does Hotspot Hero use my cellular data?

No. The app itself does not stream or upload data. The data flowing through your hotspot is whatever your laptop, console, or tablet uses — exactly the same as a normal Personal Hotspot session.

Why does Hotspot Hero ask for location permission?

iOS gives a small allowance to apps with the Always location permission to keep certain radios responsive. We use this signal — and only this signal — to prevent your hotspot from going to sleep. We never read your coordinates, never store them, never transmit them.

How do I cancel or refund a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Cancel or request a refund via iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
